Bryan Little put the winner away with only two minutes left in the 3rd period as the Winnipeg Jets topped the Carolina Hurricanes by 3-1 on Sunday night as Jets began a 6 game homestand.

After winning, Wheeler said that he is not going to pretend that they are firing on cylinders now but they are actually grinding.

Patrik Laine set the things up with the very first goal of the game and Kyle Connor added 1 in an empty net with just a second to go. Micheal Ferland scored Carolina’s goal, that started out looking like this was the Hurricanes’ lose.

The Jets were swarmed by The Carolina in the first scoreless period, outshot by 18-6, and coughed up to put pressure on backup goalie Laurent Brossoit. But Wheeler said that there was no theatrics or panic in the dressing room.

The Winnipeg Captain said that Jesus speech was not coming and they didn’t need to reinvent the wheel. An element of patience was there and being positive for five games in the season.

Paul Maurice, Jets head coach agreed with Wheeler.

Maurice said that they knew that by going into the game the puck wasn’t going to move easily or well. “Game wasn’t going to look like you and hasn’t for any of the opponents. Nobody can beat them into regulation. Right now, they’re on fire.”

Brossoit made 42 saves for The Winnipeg Jets, whereas Petr Mrazek stopped at 23-of-25 shots for the Hurricanes

Ferland said that it was a frustrating loss that there were lots for The Carolina to learn from.

“This is a tough one, especially to lose late in the game,” he said. “I thought that we kept our feet on the gas in an entire game and kept going at them. Their goalie really played good. Our goalie too played good, but I think we deserved a point there at least.”
