Stafford killer transferred to a medium security prison for repeated slaps in the face
The family members of an 8-year-old murdered Ontario girl said that they were blindsided again this week when they came to know that one of Stafford’s killers had been moved to a medium security prison.
Michael Rafferty, was sentenced to life term in prison in the year 2012 for torturing, raping, abducting and killing Victoria Stafford in 2009, was transferred from a high tight security facility in Port-Cartier, Que., to a medium security prison in La Macaza around nine months ago.
Rodney Stafford, Stafford’s father said an interview with CTV News on Monday that they feel like they have been repeated slap in the face not only by The Correctional Service Canada but also by The Government as well.
Stafford wrote a very emotional post in a closed Facebook group: “This means that ALL THIS TIME for the last three months, CORRECTIONS SERVICE CANADA AND OUR CANADIAN GOVERNMENT both have been hiding the fact that these both are responsible for stealing the life of their daughter, Victoria Stafford”,” he wrote.
They came to know about this information just weeks after Stafford’s family and their supporters protested for the transfer of Terri-Lynne McClintic, Tori’s other killer, into an Indigenous healing lodge.
After a widespread outrage, McClintic was then transferred out of the lodge and to a medium security prison in November. Stafford said that this incident made him very curious about Rafferty, who he learned in this week and was transferred in March.
“How these two worst criminals in Canada are being slowly worked down through the whole system? These people that took the life of my daughter heinously,” Victoria told CP24 on Monday.
