Monahan, Flames with Townsend Tigers spent time well children’s hospital
At the Alberta Children’s Hospital on Thursday, Sean Monahan decided to take a step by tending twine against the Townsend Tigers.
The Calgary Flames were playing well an opponent and lost in 37 appearances against the local National Hockey League club at an annual wheelchair hockey game that held at the Gordon Townsend School, it is a tradition that started in the year 1980.
Goals were very tough to come as the Flames dropped down their 38th consecutive contests to the children/kids at the hospital by a count of around 25-2.
“It’s one of the best things,” said the 24-year-old. “This is my sixth year doing the same thing, and we have never won. But it’s really a fun time. As it’s near Christmas time, and to come out and watch the kids having fun, it’s really great.
“Lots of the years, I try hard to go into the net, and when kids score on you and you watch them smiling, this excitement rubs off on you back, for sure.”
In an addition to the yearly wheelchair hockey game, other players too participated in arts and crafts with the hospital patients, signed autographs and made room visits to the patients.
