John Tory addressed his campaign volunteers at a hotel ballroom, taking the stage and cheering to the Rolling Stones’ Start Me Up after the early results that showed him with over 63% of the vote.

“Building on the foundation of the past 4 years, my next 4 years goal is to make sure that no one feels like an opportunity is a distant point onto the horizon,” Mr. Tory said. “We should continue to be a city which is a place of hope for every single person, it’s not the place where people lose hope.”

A hall on Queen Street West was filled up with Keesmaat supporters and the crowd was upbeat. Few groaned audibly when a television channel called a race for Mr. Tory. A few minutes later, Ms. Keesmaat told to the crowd that they made a difference in this election campaign.

Keesmaat told to the supporters that she is deeply humbled by all of the confidence, and too added her congratulations to Mr. Tory on his win.

Once these victory celebrations get over, Mr. Tory, a former Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader and Rogers Cable, a chief executive, will face a number of challenges, but the biggest challenge may be waiting at the Queen’s Park.
