Sexual allegations led to the resignation of Jim Wilson
Global News learned from the different sources that 2 senior members of an inner circle of Premier Doug Ford were forced to resign on Friday due to allegations of sexually and inappropriate behavior.
Jim Wilson resigned from his current position as Minister of Economic Development and Trade, and the PC caucus too after he was confronted with allegations.
Sexual misconducts were made by a Queen’s Park’s male staffer and the premier office became aware of this claim late Friday afternoon.
Exactly after 6 p.m., a member of the communications team of Premier Ford issued a statement: “The Honourable Jim Wilson resigned as Minister of Economic Development to seek treatment for addiction issues.”
Wilson will work presently as the MPP for riding of Simcoe—Grey, as an independent. Jim Wilson is a member of the provincial parliament since 1990 and served the cabinets of former premiers Ernie Eves and Mike Harris. Also, he was chosen by the PC party just to serve as an interim leader following the resignation of Tim Hudak, a former leader.
The premier’s office responded just after the story was published, but didn’t deny or confirm any allegation of misconducts and repeated addiction issue as the reason for the resignation of Wilson.
Jim Wilson is no longer a member of the PC Caucus, nor a Minister of the Government.
